The Aula Magna of the Melchor de Macanaz building has hosted the Open Forum for reflection on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which celebrates the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) in all its campuses until 29 of November. The activity, open to public, has the participation of members of the Men’s Association for Gender Equality (AHIGE). The Welcome to the event was run by the Vice-chancellor of Students and Social Responsibility, Ana Carretero, and the Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, Carmen Córcoles.
From the Vice-chancellor’s Office of Students and Social Responsibility this forum of reflection is promoted one more year, whose motto is: ‘ Adding voices for equality and against gender violence ‘. The idea of this initiative, as Ana Carretero has indicated, is to put on the table a series of elements of reflection that invite the debate, the participation and the exposition of experiences of “How we are rethinking and reconstructing ourselves with respect to the roles and stereotypes assigned”, said the Vice-chancellor, who added that eradicating gender-based violence is not a struggle for women alone,” it is a struggle of society as a whole and in that struggle there are men and women, so it is given the floor to them ” , indicated in reference to this year’s motto, as members of the Men’s Association for Gender Equality will participate in the different sessions. In Albacete, AHIGE has been represented by Eduardo Martínez.
